I think this topic has come up before -- you really, really don't 
want to mix RAID types on a single disk drive.

And I would strongly encourage you to avoid doing RAID across 
multiple partial partitions of a disk -- either RAID the whole thing 
as one complete partition per disk, or don't do RAID on that disk at 
all.
