No one said you had to subscribe to it, or go read it.  The main purpose 
would be to keep the non-topic material l-off- of the main list, where 
the topic is Linux.

As for the rest of your reasons, it seems rather trivial to 'judge' 
someone by their opinion, rather than their ability.
