installed. Many linux distributions don't include
it because of licensing restrictions on implementing
an mp3 encoder ordecoder. The software is available
here: http://lame.sourceforge.net/index.php

** Thanks Greg, fixed me up, command line KISS, and
now Amber Digby resides in my Sansa M240 player.
Had trouble getting lame to configure, however,
like a dog with a bone persistence paid off.

  ** Thanks John, remembered I had O'Reily's MP3 Guide
in my library (after ordering it) searched and
found it, and got up to speed on cdparanoia and
no frills command line ripping. Since I know album
and artist didn't need it repeated, just 1.wav &
_.wav Oh so easy to use.
