I use FC6, and someone sent me an external USB drive that I had to put
some stuff on, formatted on an XP machine.

I don't remember where I got this, but it worked so I saved it;

mount /dev  /mountpoint -t ntfs-3g -rw -o umask=0000

I don't now recall the significance and/or reasoning for the 0000
umask, but it worked. Alzheimer's is HELL!

Writes seemed to be slow tho - YMMV.
