I know that this was the worst night of your life, but my mom always 
reminded me to count my blessings -- especially when things were 
looking down.  I hope that there is at least some small comfort for 
you that your mom is still alive, and that you've got some hope that 
she'll continue to live long enough to be able to have plastic 
surgery and make at least a decent recovery.

You have all of our wishes and prayers, and I'm sure that my 
mother-in-law is already praying for you as well -- she's active in 
her church and any time she sees things like this in the news, that's 
one of the first things she does.  I hope that proximity helps in 
these cases, since she's also down there in the San Antonio area.
