Make sure you find out what your early termination fee is, and that 
you'd be getting at least that much for the phone.  Otherwise, you're 
losing money.

And also keep in mind that you'd presumably need to buy a 
replacement, albeit perhaps one that has a lower up-front cost, and 
hopefully no higher long-term contract cost, especially considering 
the additional length of time you'd be committed to that contract as 
compared to when your current one runs out.
