First of all, I said the military not those that serve in the military.
As far as their pay goes, in addition to their measly (?) salary, they
get free medical care for themselves and their families, they get a
housing allowance for living off base, and they don't have to pay tax on
anything they buy at the BX, PX, Commissary or Four Seasons. Those that
go into battle also get hazard pay, and nearly every restaurant in town
offers a military discount. I don't worry about those in the military. I
know plenty people in the military that do quite well. One of my
neighbors is a captain working at Randolph; his house cost $15k more
than mine, he works four days a week, his wife drives a BMW and he
drives an H2. In fact 3 of the 6 houses in my culdesac are owned by
people in the military. They do quite well, thank you. Try being a
graphic artist in this town and you will learn what "horrible" pay
really is.
What I meant is take money away that is being payed to military
contractors. Just take the money from a few F-22s (at $137 mil./ea.) and
you have enough for all the candidates to run their campaigns and have
enough to retire on.
