[SATLUG] Samba balks at copying file, VI chokes, SFTP craters....

Tried monitoring /var/log/messages, nothing indicating hardware or FS
issues.
Gzipping the snmpwalk file finally allowed me to scp it off the machine.
That was really weird. Do you know why a gzipped text file would work but
copying the file itself wouldn't?
