What kind of laptop?
I suggest using a USB->IDE adapter and grab the data that way. TO be
really careful, use dd or cat to copy the partition(s) and mount via
read only loop (or mount directly read only)
I have all the needed tools, and I guarantee that I am cheaper than any
other data recovery shop.
