Be careful about getting a MacBook Pro.  If you do get one, I highly
recommend the Applecare 3 year warranty.  My wife bought a Macbook
Pro, and due to the severe overheating and cooling fans not coming on,
we had to bring it in for a warranty repair.

They replaced the entire logic board and fan assemblies, which would
have cost us nearly $1000 if it were not still under warranty.  Now
that that's fixed, it's having another problem - the fan on the right
side of the case rattles and puts out a lot of noise, especially when
using CPU hungry programs.

If you're lucky enough not to experience the problems that many users
seem to be complaining about (overheating, mooing sound, etc) it's a
great computer.  OSX is easy to use, and comes with the full set of
bash tools and other useful command line programs because it's
Unix-based.
