[SATLUG] Need help with "DIA"

I've just installed Fedora Core 4, and I find that it has a drawing
program called "DIA", but I can't find any instructions on how to use
the thing. The only two websites that I've found give me one page each
saying how great DIA is, but they're no help beyond that. (And I
definitely want DIA; I don't want to use the GIMP; I want to produce
lines and words, not shaded photos.) And DIA is *not* intuitive. Maybe
it is for the people who wrote it to replace some other drawing program
they knew so well they could use it in their sleep, but I don't have the
deep experience to guess how to get DIA to do what I want to get done.
Can anyone suggest a source, on the web or in a book or anything, that
will tell me how to do things, even get arrowheads off the ends of lines
and copy small bits of drawing that I produce. I understand how Bezier
(sp?) curves work in principle, but I can't find anything on how to put
them into a DIA drawing.
Also, when I've finally gotten a diagram done with DIA, can it be
plumped down into the middle of a document that I'm writing in OOo 2.0
Writer? Once again, somebody out there must think that "that's
intuitive", but to me is isn't.
Thanx muchly for any help or directing that anybody can give me.
