I am in corpus. My ISP offers static IP addresses for personal or commercial
use. Contact Grande Communications at 361 334 3000. Service is via hybrid
fiberoptic-cable and they offer three bandwidths. You can also get landline
telephone service and digital tv/dmx music service over the same coax. Their
equipment is all new and the coax that runs a relatively short distance from
the fiber converter station is double shielded, made from stainless and is
certified buriable. They cover the entire south side of the city, the Flour
Bluff area, and on the eastern side of the Corpus Christi Bay.
If your friend moves to the older center city then service is from
Roadrunner. As I understand they use the forty year old Athena Cable TV
cables; some places are better than others. If the area of interest is
within several miles of the S W Bell building in the upper business district
in the old center city then they offer twisted pair DSL.
That and a map should get him started.
