C'mon. This sounds like a frivolous lawsuit to me. They say that
Microsoft's security bulletins are too hard for consumers to
understand? Give me a break. The only way Microsoft could make it
easier to update your system would be to dispatch employees to your
house and apply the patches for you. Maybe they could make you
breakfast, too. The brief patch descriptions on the Windows Update site
generally say that the bugs can be used to remotely execute arbitrary
code. That's a pretty clear indicator that the bug is serious and needs
to be patched, isn't it? Oh, and the "Critical Update" label should be
another clue.. ;-)

I know that there isn't much love here for Microsoft (as evidenced by
all the M$, MickeySoft, Winblows, and Lose98 comments), but they can't
FORCE you to apply patches (yet), and if they did y'all would be even
more incensed.

That said, I think Microsoft has been indirectly good for Linux. I
think Windows provides a lot of the spark that keeps desktop Linux
progressing.

On another note, check your 401(k) holdings some time if you have
one... Unless you've made a conscious decision to avoid being "tainted"
by Microsoft, there's a really good chance that you're invested in
Microsoft through one of your mutual funds...

Cheers,

--Eric
