[SATLUG] Esssolo1... hissing sound only...

I got a ThinkPad 390e, that according to many site has a esssolo1 (card
or compatible card) in it. If I modprobe esssolo1, it takes it just
fine, no errors in dmesg of anykind.

But if I go to /usr/share/sounds and cat phone.wav > /dev/dsp all it
does is make this strange hissing sound. It actually does that with
every sound I try to pump through it.

Anyone know what I'm doing wrong ? Or is the driver broken ? (I know the
snd works fine, had windows when i got it)
