What makes you think that MS will EVER release information on what it does
and how it does it???  How many years now have the Samba development people
been depending on outside observance of how Winblows protocols interact?  I
understand that MS has NEVER given them the information on what&how the MS
protocols work.

So, what makes you think MS will release any information on how DRM works???
This is merely their latest monopoly to suck millions from the 'great
unwashed'!

I have been beta-testing the MS DRM applications, and have to say I am quite
impressed at its ability to completely encrypt and make unavailable to
anyone without the required key to obtain credit card numbers and other
personal information.  There is much more, but I am under an NDA.

I imagine Linux folks will build a similar method once it is discovered what
it actually does.
