Chuck - you're correct: I did indeed want to have a kernel with all the
components I know I need compiled for maximum performance. I felt I could
have a better system. I also wanted, just for the sake of knowledge and
learning, to know I could compile a kernel. I have used unix/linux for a
long time, but have never *administered* it. It's the difference between
driving a car for many years versus being able to get under the hood. I'm
not able to do a transmission overhaul, but maybe I can at least change the
oil in RedHat, so to speak. ..Karl Kutac
